Pull Up A Chair: A Fundraising Event for Kelli Wegener
Kellli Wegener, currently on the McHenry County Board in District 5 and now running county-wide for chair of the board, writes: “I am holding a major fundraiser called “Pull Up a Chair” on Saturday, January 13th, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, and I’m hoping you will attend. This is my first big fundraiser, and I want to show the Democratic Party of Illinois that I have a lot of support.”
“I’ve been reflecting on my choice to run for McHenry County Board Chairperson, and I see it as giving residents who currently don’t have a voice a “seat at the table”. Lauren Underwood quoted Shirley Chisholm as saying, “If you don’t have a seat at the table, bring your own chair.” I’m “Pulling up a Chair” to use my voice to help those in our county who:
- Need mental health and addiction services
- Have been or fear they will be affected by gun violence
- Are under or uninsured and can’t get the services they need to live full, healthy lives
- Don’t have internet access
- Need help or direction in starting a business in McHenry County
- Have been affected by discrimination
- Need assistance to learn new skills or help in looking for a job that pays a livable wage
